MERRY MEN: THE REAL YORUBA DEMONS MOVIE REVIEW

Merry men: The Real Yoruba Demons

The first time I saw the trailer for the Merry Men:The Real Yoruba Demons,I was like “they’ve come with another movie to captivate us again, which one is Merry Men again Lol.”  The movie features characters I believe can be found in real life Nigerian society. Ever heard or seen cute, wealthy guys who seem to have everything include girls, flashy cars and unlimited cash to spend? I’ve seen them too. With this,I can say the cast are quite plausible.

Merry men features an all star cast with the likes of Richard Mofe Damijo(RMD),Jide Kosoko,Ireti Doyle,Fathia Balogun,Nancy Isime,Damilola Adegbite,Segun Arinze,Lilian Esoro,Ushbebe,Francis Duru,Rosy Meurer and many more.

The story line is a Nigerian twist to the Merry Men legend who steal from the rich and give to the poor. Perhaps it’s because of the fast approaching 2019 elections ? Who knows? The key actor in the movie is Ayo Alesinloye (Ramsey Nouah) who plays the role of the president of the merry men. His passionate love for Garki Village,a place where he grew up provides a basis for his conflict with a corrupt politician(Jide Kosoko)who has acquired the contract to destroy Garki and build a modern shopping complex. Ayo enlists the help of the other merry men: Naz Okigbo( Jim Iyke), Remi Martins (Falz the bad guy) and Amaju Abioritsegbemi (AY Makun) and his friend turned lover Dera( Damilola Adegbite.  The Merry Men are popular big boys whose super powers include seducing women in power, operating high tech gadgets to get information about politicians and getting the most beautiful babes in town. Contrary to popular opinion, they are not G-boys/ Yahoo boys but  young men who use their intelligence to get wealth from corrupt politicians in order to help themselves and help the poor.

Merry men: The real Yoruba Demons movie

The plot of the movie unfolds with a lot of humour, suspense, powerful visuals and explicit scenes. Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons is not one of those movies you can easily predict as the trailer is quite different from the plot and it’s epic end. The movie would tickle your fancy with it’s endearing characters, romance, great special effects and sophisticated plot. I would have loved to say more but I don’t want to be a spoiler but here are some reasons why you should watch Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons

  • It gives you insights about the world of the Nigerian elites
  • It’s funny and would lift your spirit with it’s interesting twists and turns
  • It’s show of wealth would configure your mind and have you screaming: Poverty na bastard  *in AY’s voice*(Poverty is a bastard)
  • It would leave you applauding the fast-pace growth of the Nigerian movie industry.

Rating: 10/10

Merry Men:The Real Yoruba Demons is still showing in Cinemas all over Nigeria.

Have you seen the Merry Men movie? What is your favourite part of the movie?

You are loved ❤
