I graduated from the University of Port Harcourt with a Second Class Upper Degree earlier this year.

I was super hyped and excited about freedom from school activities, structured schedules, exams etc. I was ready to take on life and go chase my dreams. This includes the blog and a ready to wear T-shirt brand I started last year(watch out for my post about some things entrepreneurship taught me).

I thought I was going to start making money immediately enough to build my empire 😂 I bet life was somewhere shaking it’s head and laughing at me.

I’ve always loved & admired financial independence, hard work, adventure & literally just making money from doing what I love. So,I channeled my energy into the blog & my business just like I did while I was in school. They didn’t yield profit like I thought they would and I got discouraged.

I discovered that not only do I need to chase my dreams, I also need to be sensitive enough to see what could bring money to me in the long run.

Your dreams need money to make progress. Your dreams need money to work.“- Sophie Wobilo

I’ve been blogging for a year (May 2019 made it 1 year) and I’ve earned a reasonable amount of money. Writing, smartphone/product photography, social media management & caption creation are some ways I’ve earned money and I could only have gotten these opportunities through blogging. Blogging has taught me a lot!

It took reminding myself that the reason I started this blog was not because of money but because I just wanted to share things I know could help young women like me grow. I just wanted to share ways we could be better.

However, leaving school opened my eyes to reality. I need to channel my creativity & burning desire to help others into a money making venture. I’ve been praying, thinking, planning. I’ve made some wrong investments too & this period is the time where I’ve really decided to put my head down & think about what I really want to do with the rest of my life.

Hey,I’m not closing the blog but I just thought to share what I’ve been up to with you all.

I’m so happy to be back writing new posts & I’m super grateful to God for how far I’ve come.

I will get a job soon,I may try my hands on another business,do some physical trainings/classes but the blog is still gonna be up & running.

I hope y’all are doing great?

Thanks for reading! You are loved! ❤

  1. I learnt that the hard way,I’ve still got work to do. I’m currently working on how to improve my craft, although 2019 has been funny but I’m glad to say everything is settled now. Thank you so much,I really appreciate this comment ❤️

  2. Money shouldn’t be the goal now, it will come on the long run with solid foundations you lay on the ground now. Just keep working on how to improve your craft so as to acquire a large fan base and I guarantee you that you will be counting cheques. Keep up the good work

  3. Very typical. Glad you are strong enough to even try. I am forever proud of you.

Life after school is hinged on balance. Find your balance in the chase. Be apt with what works and what doesn’t, and it can switch so fast (short term).

Long term is what you see as your passion. What you may never retire from but won’t be hell of stress as well.

Inasmuch as dreams require money to thrive, the money-chase can be distracting.

Watch it dear. You are loved.

    1. Thank you so much for the encouragement Max! You just dropped a lot of wisdom via this comment,I’m taking a screenshot so I can read it over & over again LOL. Very true, one can become distracted when money is the only motivation and goal for your career, job or business. Thank you so much for reading! You are loved!

  4. You’re one creatively amazing writer I admire so much.

Indeed life after school isnt eazy. I remember back in school, I used to say:I want to be a boss of my own,I won’t work for anyone😂I want to be financially independent at age 25. After graduation,it wasn’t funny….

But thank God for where I am now🙌🏻

    Keep inspiring us babe!!❤❤
